Cor blimey! What a show
My Fair Lady, Seaham Vane Tempest Operatic Society SEAHAM Vane Tempest Amateur Operatic Society is at its best this week with this lively production.
Its young star, Gillian Best, who has been taking lead parts with the society since she was a Seaham Comprehensive schoolgirl, reaches the peak of perfection as Eliza.
The purity and strength of her soprano voice complemented her enthusiasm for the part.
There was a masterly performance of her tutor by Michael Hunt.
Ably supporting these two were Charles Bond as Colonel Pickering and Phil Mezzo as the inane and Infatuated Freddie Eynsford Hill.
Mark McAndrew, chairman of the society, comes on stage for the first time in 20 years-to give a great performance as that philosphical dustman, Alfred Dolittle.
This show comes over as a delightful musical comedy. It runs until Saturday
